History
Rita's Journey of Healing & Transformation
If anyone understands the emptiness and devastation of loss and the healing
power of acceptance, forgiveness, and ‘letting go’ would be Rita Stillo.
In less than twenty years, Rita's comfort zone was devestated by many familial
losses. She lost her three brothers and nephew to cancer; her 21 year old
niece was killed in an automobile accident, her mother and her two sisters
suffered from mental illness and, subsequently, became stroke victims. Her
father went senile and died of a "broken heart" following the demise of his
family.
However, Rita’s darkest night of her soul was the separation from her teenage
daughter and her youngest daughter’s bulimia, a severe eating disorder, which
she struggled with for many years. This life-threatening dis-ease affects 25%
of adolescents, teenagers, and young adults between the ages of nine and
twenty-five. And it is estimated that more than 10% of sufferers die from
medical complications.
These losses and challenges however served to propel Rita to explore and
seek out new and healthier ways of perceiving life and living in the world. And
rather than give in to her abyss of despair, she saw her challenges as an
opportunity to pursue a professional career in the Social Service field. Her
studies of Psychology, mental illness, and metaphysical philosophy have not
only given her tools and understanding to guide others, but more importantly,
her newfound knowledge has enabled her to unravel the root causes of her
family’s demise.
Rita’s dream to educate and dispel the myth of mental illness has become a
reality. This silent epidemic, which affects one in four Canadians, is rooted in
our inability to accept and find healthy solutions to what we perceive as
challenges. Essentially it is due to our fear of change. But even more
damaging is our inability to love and accept ourselves. When we choose to
remain in our ego sate, which is our social mask we will, in time, change the
chemistry in our body, lowering our Ph balance, which compromises our
immune system. A weak immune system is more susceptible to environmental
stresses, especially emotional stress.
More importantly, however, Rita believes that as long as we continue to
perceive ourselves as victims, healing will not be possible. Our desire and
willingness to take responsibility for our own well-being is the first step to
freedom from pain and suffering!

The Rose The rose is a reflection of our Spiritual growth The thorns represent the challenges Essential for our life’s journey As we overcome each obstacle We will, inevitably, bloom— for humanity Has been on this journey for eons The appreciation that everything We do, think, feel and believe has an Impact on our state of well-being And the world around us Self-awareness is necessary Before growth Transformation can only occur When we are open to new Ideas and philosophies But more importantly Letting go of our false ego will Awaken us to our Higher Self Liberating us from Fear, Guilt & Self-betrayal!

You have taught me more about myself and given me so much insight. Because of your gifts, you have encouraged me to do some deeper soul searching and for that I am grateful.
